Running from God to Running with God: A Spiritual Awakening
Ever hit the 'reject' button on an incoming call? Imagine if that call was from God. Welcome to the inaugural session of Whisper Word Devotions, where I unpack my personal journey of running from, and finally answering, this divine call. There's a story in the Bible about Samuel, who didn't recognize God's call at first. Similarly, I often found myself pressing 'reject'. However, a profound moment of surrender led me to embrace His will, resulting in a life-altering transformation.
The voice of God isn't always a loud, thunderous sound. Sometimes, it's a gentle whisper. During my spiritual awakening, I found God speaking to me in whispers. This not only revitalized my spirit but also gave me a fresh surge of energy. These divine whispers inspired the creation of this series - Whisper Word Devotions. Each Wednesday, I'll share a new word I've received, which I hope will encourage, empower, and guide you, just as it has done for me. His word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your pathway. Let's move forward on this journey, one whisper at a time.
You are now tuning in to Whisper Word Devotions brought to you by Walk it Out inspirations For this first devotion. I would like to give you a little backstory history of how Whisper Word Devotions was developed. Have you ever seen a call come through that you refused to answer and decided to push the reject button? Well, that was me with God. God whispered answer the call.
Speaker 1:In 2013,. I remember the very first time God called me by my name. I made the choice to ignore the call. He continued to call me and whispered answer the call. I was running and trying to hide from the inevitable. God says in His Word that he chastens those that he loves. God continued to chase me and show up in my life in the most unexpected ways. I continued to hear Him call my name, but I continuously rejected the call. It wasn't until I ended up in the dark valley of death with nowhere to turn that I finally yielded and answered the call. I know you're probably wondering what call? What do you want? It was the call to His will, surrendering my will to do the will of the Lord. It wasn't until I became obedient to every call that I started to see the manifestation of God's Word right before my eyes. It's exciting to see His Word in action.
Speaker 1:Unlike myself, though, samuel's story was a little different. In 1 Samuel 3, the Lord called Samuel three times Before he knew it was the Lord calling him. When the Lord called his name, samuel was unaware that it was the voice of God. He thought it was Eli that was calling him. After the third time, eli realized that it was the Lord calling him and instructed Samuel to say Speak, lord, for your servant is listening, in obedience. When Samuel heard his name called for the fourth time, he answered here I am, speak, for your servant is listening. God created a word specifically for Samuel to hear. It was in the acknowledgement that Samuel received the word. Word is the number of God's creation.
Speaker 1:Many times when we hear things, it is a way of God trying to get our attention through the sounds that are being released. In this case, god truly was specific in his sound because it was the sound of a name being released within the atmosphere. It's interesting enough that Samuel was asleep each time God called his name. In essence, god was releasing the sound of an awakening because he had a need for Samuel. There was an urgent message that needed to be released. God will send a sound of awakening to wake you when he needs you to be on guard. He then gives you the opportunity to make the choice of whether you will yield to obedience or defy what he has requested of you to do.
Speaker 1:I was living my life in sleep, just existing in the world's routine of life. God released the sound of awakening to pull me out of that place of slumber and truly lived the life he has for me. God began waking me out of my sleep with whispers of different words. It would always send an awakening to my spirit and bring me energy to my body, ready to tackle the day ahead. Throughout the day, he would speak to me and give revelation about the word that he has whispered. He then instructed me to release the word of the Lord to his people.
Speaker 1:I quickly realized that these moments were not just moments for me to keep to myself. It was to alert and awaken the sleeping dead. Through the one word whispers. It brought forth new life, power, strength, encouragement, empowerment and instruction. He then told me to name it the whisper word devotion. It's a beauty to have your alarm clock be the father whispering his word in your ear. I pray as you listen and tune in to whisper word devotion that it empowers you and gives you what you need to keep going in the plans that God has set out for your life. His word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your pathway. Allow these words to continue to lead and guide you along the way. Subscribe and tune in every Wednesday for whisper word devotions.
